Maximal circularity – enabled by technology
In product development, the focus is on circularity and the use of sustainable raw materials. Recycled materials such as R-PET, R-PP, and R-Alu are already in use. Bio-based and mass balance-certified films are part of the portfolio, along with coating systems that incorporate non-fossil components. This results in savings in the product carbon footprint of up to 20%.
Pioneer in recycled aluminum
In 2023, Hueck Folien has introduced the use of recycled aluminum for metallization processes. This approach helps conserve resources and significantly reduce the carbon footprint. The recycled aluminum wire used by the company has a carbon footprint of only 2.2 kg CO₂ equivalent per kilogram, compared to 15 kg CO₂ equivalent for standard aluminum wire. Thus, 85% CO2 can be saved compared to the primary raw material. The material is sourced from industrial aluminum scrap and meets the purity requirements for high-quality metallization. Since November 2023, production has been fully converted to recycled aluminum, with product properties remaining equivalent to those made from primary raw materials.
Sustainable product development
The company applies lifecycle assessments to evaluate the environmental impact of its products and uses established standards to calculate carbon footprints. Certifications such as ISCC Plus and FSC® support the traceability of sustainable materials. Hueck Folien integrates recyclability into product design and continues to explore ways to reduce the use of fossil-based resources across its product range.
